Fridays After Five is a Charlottesville favorite, that people look forward to all year! It is a concert series held at the Charlottesville Pavilion (at the end of the Downtown Mall) that is free, and fun for the whole family. The musical line-up usually includes many great local favorites, with a broad range of types of music to keep everyone entertained. While the music is great, Fridays After Five also has a lot of appeal as just being a fun social event to enjoy with friends and family.
Hundreds of people flock the Downtown Mall for this event each week- several bringing picnic baskets, blankets, and lawn chairs, to just kick back in the grassy area and enjoy the evening. It’s also a fun place to meet up with friends, prior to dinner out on the Downtown Mall!
Most people who come either bus, walk, or park in one of the many Downtown Mall parking garages, just don’t park in any of the local business parking lots, as towing is common as a result of how busy these events get!
Fridays has several stands set up with beer and wine, so be sure to bring your I.D. and cash, and there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages, too.
Insider’s Tip: Definitely bring a blanket, towel, or lawn chair, and you may also consider bringing mosquito spray too!
Will we see you there?
