The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up
By now, you’ve likely heard about Marie Kondo (https://konmari.com), whether from her famous book or new Netflix series, this lady has got us all feeling seriously insufficient when it comes to domestic skills. Her mantra of keeping only “things that spark joy,” leave us all wondering what to do with our raggedy college t-shirts, our “when I lose a little weight” wardrobe, our halls of books, and drawers full of every memento since childhood. For those of you who are already tidy and keep your t-shirts folded into compact little squares that stand up on their side in a drawer, none of this is new. For every other person in the known world, the whole idea of this feels a bit insurmountable and overwhelming.
In a strange turn of events, a handful of people at Story House appeared to all be watching the new Netflix series on the exact same Sunday evening at home, sparking lots of banter back and forth, stunning photos of everyone’s most cluttered spaces, and a commitment from several of us on the team to attack various places in our home and hold each other accountable! As embarrassed as each of us were to individually share the “before” pictures, we felt a new sense of confidence in the shared anonymity of us all doing it together and creating a blog series about it.
We have decided to do a 12-week series where we focus area by area together and hold each other accountable to some serious tidying, organization, and peace of mind. We hope we will inspire some of you to join along with us, and if nothing else, we hope you will enjoy our antics and some crazy “before and after’s” along the way!
Here is our plan for anyone who would like to follow along!
