Cole Rakes

Director of Operations

Cole, a native of Botetourt County, VA, and graduate of Radford University, drawn by the presence of his two sisters in the Charlottesville area, decided to also make it his home in 2008. Cole's career path led him through several years in sales, which allowed him to find Morgan, a coworker that quickly blossomed into a deep friendship and, shortly thereafter, a lifelong partnership as husband and wife. The experience of purchasing their first home ignited a desire within Cole to explore real estate, prompting him to embark on a new career in the industry in 2015.

In 2021, Cole found his professional home at Story House, initially joining as a transaction coordinator for our buyer agents. He discovered a deep sense of fulfillment in guiding clients through the intricate process of closing a real estate transaction. Cole's dedication and versatility quickly became apparent, leading him to take on a diverse range of responsibilities that now encompass various aspects of day-to-day operations. From coordinating with vendors, team finances, cutting up the occasional downed tree, and of course, still ensuring the smooth flow of transactions, Cole's contributions have become invaluable to the Story House team. His attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction have earned him the trust and respect of colleagues and clients alike.

While Cole's professional journey has been marked by dedication and achievement, he has never lost sight of the importance of personal connections and a well-rounded life. Outside of work, his greatest joy comes from spending quality time with Morgan, and their three young boys, Arthur, Andy, and Wyatt, at their home in Greene County. He cherishes the simple pleasures of family life, whether it's playing in the backyard, embarking on outdoor adventures, or sharing a meal together. Cole also values his friendships and enjoys connecting with friends at local restaurants, breweries, and camping excursions.
