Happy Juneteenth! We are spending today especially celebrating the freedom, heritage, history, and accomplishments of the Black community and are committed to continuing to educate ourselves and others on the importance of this historic date.

We encourage all of you to join us in honoring the Black community today, tomorrow and everyday. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States. Celebrated on June 19th of every year, it marks the day that the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom in 1865.How will you celebrate #Juneteenth?

This Local Love of ours is Kate Thomas Art! Kate is a new-to-Charlottesville local. Happy to be here and share her art with you! She is an abstract landscape painter working primarily in watercolor canvas. She is a sucker for a large statement piece and believes whole heartedly in surrounding ourselves with what we love, what brings us joy, peace and good memories. Even down to the art on our walls. She believes that having a visual escape that we get to peek at through out our day makes the day that much better. She offers landscapes, abstracts, florals and more in all different sizes. In addition, she specializes in custom art pieces and stretches our her own canvas! Kate Thomas just opened up her studio in Ivy and would love to have you pop in our come take a watercolor class.
